On Mt. Madison in 1960

Near the summit of Mt. Madison in the Spring of 1960. Left to Right, back row: Ted Blatchford, Mr. Warner, Clint Smith, Mr. Biddle, Tim Taylor, Fin Glidden, and Paul Pilcher. The resting person in the front is Bill’s friend Bill King.

Art Watson’s memory: “We started at Porky Gulch and hiked up Lion’s Head to the summit of Washington, then down into Great Gulf for the night. I remember it well as I was a coxwain for the crew that Spring and was very out of shape, it was very hot, and I had a hard day. I guess the next day we must have gone up Madison (and maybe others), where the pictures were taken. Not sure where we went from there . . . possibly Crag Camp? From the 1961 and 1964 Classbooks.
