Remembering Bill
Resolution by the Trustees of Holderness School, 1984
- Whereas, William W. Biddle has served Holderness for sixteen years as Director of Admissions, Instructor of English, and Chair of the English Department, as Director of the Outing Cub and originator of the Visiting Writers’ program, and
- Whereas, his spirit has defined for us all the essence of enthusiasm, a man truly of all seasons and of all weathers, joyous in rain and snow as in sun and warmth, a man whose soul radiated optimism and,
- Whereas, he has a vitality that is perennial as the grass and energy as eternal as the mountains he loves and also because he had the unique ability through his teaching, his climbing, his running, his bicycling, his canoeing and through every word he speaks to infuse us with that same energy or make at least wish we could keep up, and
- Whereas, at the core Bill Biddle is the most decent human being any of us is likely to encounter in this life, the Trustees of Holderness School wish to honor him with this resolution.
